So, we left Charleston on a sunny, wonderful morning,

and made it down to Beaufort.
We docked right in the "Downtown" of this quaint little town.

The next morning, (Sunday, Jan. 6th) we walked by the waterfront park, with its fabulous swings,

beautiful Palmetto trees, and amazing gardens!
on our way to meet Sally's college roommate & her husband for breakfast at a beautifully sunny restaurant serving only local ingredients, and made-to-order donuts.  YUMMM!

We left Beaufort, traveling the Intracoastal down towards Hilton Head Island.

We docked at the Harbor Town Yacht Basin with it's famous 90 foot-tall red & white lighthouse !

Cheers!

19-01-07, Monday-- We got off the dock late -- Rick woke (me) up before sunrise; he was awake most of the night with an earache.  We decided to uber to Urgent care. After he saw a PA and was prescribed medication for an ear infection, we ended up  getting off the dock 2 hours later than planned. Unfortunately, that meant we missed the high tides, which, due to 6--8 feet tides, means we traveled through shallow water,  =>> tense travel.

We found a small marina, up the Macay River, docked, then watched (part of) the College Football Championship game.  Go Clemens TIGERS!

19-01-08 Tuesday morning ...

It was supposed to get up to 71 degrees, though it was still very chilly & cloudy at 9:00 am. I sit next to Rick all day, watching the charts/Alerts,  making sure we don't run aground.  I'm so surprised how these "underwater islands" (water only 2-3 feet deep) show up out of nowhere.  It's especially difficult because of the recent hurricanes, the channels aren't always well marked.

and, of course, Rick needs to get in his cardio training.  So, he "back-seat" drives the whole 45-minutes that I "drive".

We're south of Savanna,  traveling towards St. Simons Island,  for the night.
