Thursday 9/28 Good Bye, Montreal -- we have a plan!

We left Montreal early, by 7:30,

We had docked Zingara along that plain cement wall ...

A wild cruise ship that was docked in a nearby marina.

Good bye, Montreal!
to travel northeast down the St. Lawrence Seaway to Sorel, Quebec by 11:00 am.
Then, we turned south, traveling through more of Quebec,  towards the Richelieu Canal system (the Chambly Locks).

Update from last evening (Wednesday, 9/27):
While at Happy Hour @ Les 3 Brasseurs (105 Rue Saint Paul, Old Town, Montreal)
Rick received an email about a condo for sale in Milford, MI. Meanwhile, our son, Alex received a job offer from one company, and scheduled a 4th interview with another company.  They’re flying him out to Virginia on Friday (tomorrow).  Wow! When it rains it pours!
Speaking of which --- after 3 weeks of “summer weather” (sunny, hot, humid), yesterday evening, a storm went through --- so we HAD to have another beer @ les 3 Brassuer (oh Darn!), which cooled everything, and everyone down!  So refreshing!   Once we finished our Tandori Chicken Flammekuech (looks like a thin crust pizza – tastes like a bit of heaven!) we got back to Zingara to hatch a plan.

By 10:30 pm that (Wednesday) night we had sent the sellers an offer (oh, did I tell you that our realtor, Steven, walked through the place, with his phone, at 7:00pm?).

So here’s the plan --
We have to get to a US city/town that has a rental-car place 
Closest place is Plattsburg, NY, opposite (west side of Lake Champlain) of Burlington, VT.  --- leave Zingara there for a few days.
Saturday – rent a car there, but warning!– Enterprise closes at 1:00 in the afternoon.
Sunday – drive 10+ hours to Milford, Michigan
Monday – home Inspection
Monday afternoon- start drive back to Zingara
And if all goes as planned, it will be a miracle!

Thursday 9/28 continued
Well, we made it to the Richelieu Canal, but only made it through the first lock – the St. Ours lock and Damn, at 12:50 PM.   There, we learned that the Chambly Locks (the next 9 locks) only run at 9:30 am and at 1:30 pm.   Since we still had 20 miles before the first Chambly lock, we continued on, knowing that we would have to tie up along the wall. Once we arrived, while tying up, we learned that the lock was already full, and that  we were going to have to wait until the 1:30 lockage tomorrow!  Oh dear!  OK, breathe!  There’s nothing we can do about it now.  So, we settled in and then walked into the quaint town for Chambly, had the most wonderful dinner ---

then had a nightcap at a local pub, where we found out that the Unibroue brewery was right down the street!   The brewery was closed for the night, but this little pub had 2 Unibroues on tap!

Good night!
