Sunday, October 1st Road trip!
5:30ish AM, on the road again!
We determined that we could make the trip in less time if we drove north, crossed into Canada at Kingston, Ontario, then came across Ontario, west, to Port Huron.
As we were driving through upstate New York, from Plattsburg, we drove too close to Trout River – the tiny town along the Canadian boarder where Rick’s great-great-great grandfather was buried, after his service in the Civil War -- so we had to stop.
Up in that part of America, we also saw Amish buggies on their way ... to church?,
Dineen Road (Rick's family-middle name) , a Rooster-palooza, and a great-named store-> Dick's Country Store -- Groceries, Guitars, and Guns. Why didn't I take any pictures? Too sleepy, I guess.
We had little trouble at the boarder crossings, except for a 45-minute-wait on the Canadian side, to pay to go across the Blue Water Bridge. It was then that we realized that all the boat-traveling we had done over the last 3 weeks, we just UN-did in just over 9 hours! Geeze!
We made it back to Michigan in time for dinner and overnight with Tom & Liz Crosby! Thank you, dear friends!

About 10 years ago, Rick & I and the boys, had visited the church,
and after quite a long search, we found the headstone -- only it had fallen over and had been damaged.
So, once we returned from our holiday, Rick contacted
the authorities and had the headstone up-righted and repaired.
At around 7:00 THIS morning, we stopped at the graveyard, and found the headstone again. The repaired-stone looked nice and strong, and even had a small American flag stuck into the ground close to the stone. Up in that part of America, we also saw Amish buggies on their way ... to church?,
